Bishop Anthony D'Onofrio
Bishop Anthony D’Onofrio is a dynamic preacher and teacher with a unique and powerful gift for delivering and imparting the Word of God.
His teachings have impacted and changed the lives of multiplied thousands over the past 30 years, helping them to see and understand God’s Word with incredible clarity. Saved in the 70’s, he attended Pinecrest Bible School, went on through obedience to the Lord to begin his first church in Brooklyn NY, then moved out to Long Island where he by divine appointment founded Upper Room Ministries around a kitchen table, which then progressed to a house basement in Deer Park. As this work rapidly grew, the need for a bigger venue became necessary, and by the Lord’s faithful hand, Upper Room moved into its first sanctuary in 1980, where Bishop began declaring that Long Island will become the Lord’s Island. His unique ability to break down the word of God has transcended both racial and gender barriers, enabling a diverse audience to understand and apply the teachings of Christ in their lives. His willingness to speak the truth has endeared him to people seeking the relevance of the Gospel in their lives, and his passion filled teachings have touched the lives of those seeking God’s restoration, reconciliation and healing. Called as an Apostle and Prophet to this region, he remains selfless in working with leaders and ministers not only in his church, but also those from all parts of the world. His keen insight and groundbreaking vision have inspired the beginning of many ministries. In the early days of Upper Room he received a revelation concerning evangelism through the arts, which led to the birth of the first “Cantata” , a production using music, dance and drama to depict the story of Jesus Christ. Upper Room now has shows running throughout the year, taking place over the Christmas and Easter seasons, and during October and February with a powerful all original production entitled “Revelation”. Thousands have received Jesus over the years as a direct result of using the arts as an evangelistic tool, and many churches have seen the impact of this God given vehicle and have followed suit. Bishop D’Onofrio has also been a forerunner in bringing food, clothing, and prayer to all who need a helping hand. This burden for the lost and hurting is evident in the many outreaches to the community that have been inspired under his leadership. His “Impact” meetings have touched the lives of many in different towns across Long Island in bringing ministries, such as The Mercy House food pantry, right to their doorstep. He has also developed ministries that span from strengthening the family to reaching those in prison. As one of the largest in the tri state area, this mega church spans over 16 acres, houses 2 sanctuaries and seats 4,000. Included on the premises are a family life center, a full gymnasium and a Christian School that serves Kindergarten to 12th grade, and has served as such for the past 3 decades. It is no accident that under this Bishop’s leadership we have become a multi-racial, cross-cultural church body from all walks of life, and have age groups spanning generations. In Bishop D’Onofrio’s own words, “We as a church have been divinely brought together to reveal Jesus, the Christ, and make him visible to the community and the world.” |
